Welcome to the very first edition of the Roco Round Community Newsletter! We’re so excited to connect with you and share the wonderful events coming up in our vibrant community.

Whether you're a longtime resident or new to the area, this newsletter is for you! Inside, you’ll find fun upcoming events that will help you to dive into the community. We also share helpful resources, local business highlights, links to local news, and stories from our community.

This Week’s Events

Week 1/27-2/2

Our first snow of the season inspired plenty of cozy indoor gatherings. Check out our calendar for a full list of events happening this month. You can view more event details and add events directly to your calendar.

Important update: Valentine’s Day Carriage Rides in Downtown Forest City are almost fully booked. There are currently 4 bookings left.
 
Take a sneak peek:
Monday [1/27]: Be the main character during Karaoke at Main Street Market in Rutherfordton from 2-4pm.


Tuesday [1/28]: Everyone’s an artist at Art in The Afternoon drop-in from 2:30-4:30pm at the Spindale Public Library. Canceled this week!


Wednesday [1/29]: Learn the practice of breathwork with the Breathe to Release workshop in Rutherfordton from 5:30-7pm.


Thursday [1/30]: Cheer on your students at the Rutherford County Schools Spelling Bee 9am-11am in Forest City.


Friday [1/31]: Comedian Bob Smiley is set to offer a family-friendly performance at The Foundation Performing Arts & Conference Center in Spindale.


Saturday [2/1]: Stop by Angler’s Choice 2025 Open House in Spindale after the Farmer’s Market in Forest City for a dog-friendly day of fun. (Leashes required.)


Sunday [2/2]: Join the New Beginnings Meet and Greet in Forest City to support our community members in recovery.

Heart of The Foothills needs your help getting their new location up and running. Check out their Amazon Wishlist to be apart of their mission to save the animals of Rutherford County.

Help Ruff’ton Roots pull silage tarps, and prune berries and fruits.

Empower local girls and impact your community by becoming a Girl Scout Volunteer.

Forest City: Do you know a dedicated worker looking for a job? Chartwell Schools has an amazing opportunity M-F. Full-Time or Full-Time. No Experience is needed.

Spindale: Make a difference alongside a supportive team with Southern Clean Pros. M-F Must have a valid driver’s license. Experience is not required.

Rutherfordton: Gain valuable skills as a tax preparer assistant with H&R Block. Some experience is required.

Recipe of The Week:

From the kitchen of Silas A.’s Oma

Salami, Ham & Cheese Squares
Ingredients: 
2 packages Pillsbury Crescent rolls
¼ lb genoa salami
¼ lb swiss cheese
¼ lb deli ham
¼ lb provolone cheese
1 12oz jar of roasted red peppers
3 eggs

Instructions:
1. Grease a 13×9×2 pan.
2. Place 1 package of crescent rolls on the bottom of the pan.
3. Place salami and swiss cheese on top.
4. Place ½ of the jar of peppers over salami and cheese.
5. Layer ham, provolone and remaining red peppers on top.
6. Beat 3 eggs and pour over layers.
7. Place the 2nd package of crescent rolls on top.
8. Brush top with remaining beaten eggs.
9. Bake at 350° covered for 30 minutes.
10. Uncover and bake for 30 more minutes
Slice and serve hot or cold.
Note: It is easiest to slice when cool or at room temp.
